Meet Josh Clement-Sutcliffe - An innovator for client success

Today we’re shining a spotlight on Josh, our Senior Product Manager who has been with us for just three months but is already making an impact. We’ll be taking a closer look at his day-to-day experiences and how exactly he goes above and beyond for our clients.
Inside the role of Senior Product Manager
1. Josh, you’re fairly new to Crunch. How have you found your role so far?
I’ve been loving it so far! My job is all about working with our clients to understand the problems they face with accounting for their businesses. Then I collaborate with designers and developers to craft the simplest solutions that add value and make our clients’ working lives easier.
2. What does a typical day in your role look like?
My role is very varied, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much—it’s rare that two days are ever the same. That said, I spend most of my time doing variations of three things.
I work very closely with our clients, so I spend a lot of time organising interviews with them, conducting those interviews, and then analysing the outcomes. This would all be pointless if we weren’t able to then release features that our clients want, so I also work closely with our developers to ensure that what we build is right for their needs.
Lastly, I want to make sure that Crunch remains the best accounting software for small business owners, so I spend a lot of time looking into how the accounting market is changing and checking out our competitors to make sure we stay ahead of the curve. Some days I do only one of these three, and on others, I do all of them. Such is the life of a product manager!
3. How do you go above and beyond to support our clients?
When in interviews with clients, I love to discover when they have a problem that Crunch can solve but they didn’t know about. It’s always a great feeling being able to help them there and then, or to reach out to another team member to get in touch with them.
This has happened recently with the Self Assessment Tax Return, which felt great to make a client happier over a call!

4. Let’s switch gears a bit - tell us an interesting fact about yourself!
I’m a big history nerd—my favourite client so far was one who ran history education workshops. We ended up spending a long time chatting about history during the interview. It was a lot of fun!
5. Do you have any hidden talents that might surprise us?
I DJ as a hobby, so I love to throw a party with some old-school funk and disco grooves. It’s a great way to unwind and have some fun.
